Former Highlander Aaron Long Named to MLS All-Star Game

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Former UC Riverside men's soccer student-athlete and current New York Red Bulls captain Aaron Long was selected to the Major League All-Star Game in Minneapolis on August 10, it was announced on Tuesday. 

Long, who also plays for the United States Men's National Team, played for the Highlanders from 2010 to 2013 and will make his second career All-Star appearance. He became the first UCR alumnus to be named an MLS All-Star when he was selected to the 2018 game in Atlanta. 

Long is in his sixth season with the New York side, making 17 appearances on the Red Bulls' back line this summer with three goals. In his tenure with the Red Bulls, Long has won an MLS Supporters Shield, MLS Defender of the Year and an MLS Best XI honors, all in 2018. 

Kickoff between the MLS and La Liga All-Stars on August 10 will be at 5:30 p.m. PT from Saint Paul, with coverage on ESPN and UniMas.
