Highlanders Set Program Record on Day Two in Nevada

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - UC Riverside set a new program record for a team low round on Monday, shooting a 281 (-7) in round two of The Clash at Boulder Creek. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • UC Riverside littered the scorecard with birdies on Monday. Vanessa Betancourt was one of four Highlanders to record at least three on the day, leading the team with six. 
  • Betancourt started her round with four consecutive pars before posting five of her six birdies on the front nine. 
  • All five Highlanders birdied the par 4 seventh hole. 
  • Janna Andaya and Mylan Hirata each recorded a 70 (-2) while Riley Shin shot her lowest round since round two of the Coeur D'Alene, going for 74 (+2) on Tuesday. 
  • Hirata shot her second lowest round of the season and lowest since carding a 71 in round three of the Timpanogos Collegiate Classic. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

  • UCR has now set the program record for lowest round in back-to-back visits to The Clash at Boulder Creek, outshooting last year's record by three strokes. 
  • The Highlanders turned in a 28-shot improvement from Sunday's opening round. 
  • Betancourt shot par or better on 17 of 18 holes with the only blemish being a bogey on 11.

  • UC Riverside will finish The Clash at Boulder Creek and fall season with Tuesday's third and final round from the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
