BEAUMONT, Texas. - UC Riverside closed out the road trip to southwest Texas on Sunday afternoon, falling 6-2 in the finale of a three game series with Lamar at Vincent-Beck Stadium. 

Jayden Lopez went 2 for 3 on the day with an RBI and two runs, including the first run of the game in the third after getting the offense going with a single through the right side. 

UCR took a 1-0 lead over the Cardinals for the second day in a row, later making it two on Lopez's solo shot to right center in the fifth. 

Corbin Barker put in a solid first appearance of the season, going 4.0 innings with three strikeouts. The redshirt sophomore held Lamar's offense in check early on while retiring six of his first nine batters. The Cardinals looked to take a 1-0 lead right off the bat in the first, but Barker was bailed out after a play at the plate went UCR's way following a double down the left field line. 

UC Riverside will travel to UC San Diego for non-conference action on Tuesday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m. before diving into Big West play with Long Beach State coming to The Plex this coming weekend.
