PROVO, Utah - UC Riverside is tied for 14th after 18 holes at the Timpanogos Collegiate Invitational at the Timpanogos Golf Club in Provo, Utah. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Mylan Hirata led UCR early, tied for third after five holes. Hirata started the morning on five and birdied the hole, and is the Highlanders' leader in the clubhouse at 72 (E). 
• Three Highlanders recorded at least three birdies in the first round in 2023, including four from Vanessa Betancourt. 
• Gabi Kiger carded all three of her birdies between holes five and 10.
• Five of seven Highlanders birdied hole 10 - including Mitzi Duarte, who carded her first collegiate birdie after going bogey, double bogey and double bogey on the first three holes. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

• Riley Shin recorded her first collegiate birdie on 11 while everyone else in the lineup parred the hole. 
• Duarte recorded three birdies in her collegiate debut while shooting a 76 (+4) on Sunday in Utah.
