RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Carlos Gonzalez has been named Big West Defensive Player of the Week following a pair of clean sheets against UC Irvine and Cal Poly. This is Gonzalez's third career weekly honor and UCR's first since the senior goalkeeper also won it back in 2022.
The 2022 Big West Co-Goalkeeper of the Year passed Charles Alamo for most career clean sheets with number 17 against the Anteaters before holding scoreless a Cal Poly side that entered Saturday atop the Big West table. Gonzalez also moved into fourth all-time on Saturday in San Luis Obispo with his 66th career start.
Gonzalez enters a new week with a 246-minute goalless streak, also tied for first in program history with a career goals against average of 1.37.
