FULLERTON, Calif. – UC Riverside (9-20, 0-10 Big West) jumped ahead early on Friday night at Goodwin Field but fell 11-8 to Cal State Fullerton in the opener of a three-game series.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• UCR put up a three spot in the third inning on three straight doubles before Cal State Fullerton countered with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the frame.  
• Mason Grace cushioned the lead right off the bat with his first home run of the year to lead off the fourth before James Appleford did his part from the mound in a quiet frame for the Titans. 
• The Highlanders saw opportunity and capitalized on a few fielding miscues to take a 7-2 lead with yet another three-run inning, this time in the fifth on just two hits. 
• Tyler Weaver went 3 for 5 on the night with a run and an RBI while Rudy Rodriguez IV recorded his third multi-hit game of the season and first since February 18. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Cole Koniarsky's hitting streak reached 15 games with his double to right field in the first inning. 
• Tyler Martinez and Bubba Rocha plated two runs apiece.
