RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside made the most of another busy weekend with stellar performances at both the Mt. SAC Relays and Chris Rinne Invitational.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Saniyah Starks kicked off the festivities at Mt. SAC with a solid 55.18 in the 400m to lead all Big West competitors. 
• Relays were the key to UCR posting more top marks. UCR's women's 4x400 relay continued to show its strength with a season-best 3:42.93 from D'Lainey Nakamoto, Starks, Diyana Hackley and Raykiyat Olukoju.  
• The Highlanders' men's relay squads showed off their speed too, running a 3:10.41 in the 4x400 for second all-time in program history. Additionally, the 4x100 unit of Jason Sherman, Jacoby Madise, Isaac Ja and Andrew Garcia posted a season-best 41.53. 
• Reggie Day lowered his 400m lifetime best to 47.53 for fifth in program history. 
• Madise opened his 100m account for 2024 with a collegiate-best 10.62 to secure a Big West qualifier. Jason Sherman posted a 10.69 in the same race.  
• Karyssa Owens secured a new lifetime best in the discus at 49.87m. 
• Chelsea Aninyei also grabbed a Big West qualifier with a lifetime-best 5.80m in the long jump. Carolinh Calvert and Sammie Velasquez also picked up Big West qualifiers in the 800. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Nakamoto, Olukoju, Natalia Carrillo and Jessica Boyd broke the 4x100m relay record for the second week in a row, this time with a mark of 45.56.  
• Olukoju later lowered her own 100m record to 11.51 and took fourth in her heat in the process.

• UC Riverside returns to competition next weekend with the Steve Scott Invitationa and Desert Heat Classic to wrap up the regular season.
