HOW IT HAPPENED

    •    Anthony Mata got hot early with a leadoff double in the top of the first before Zachary Chamizo reached on an error that advanced Mata to third. Bubba Rocha doubled to send both of them home and set the tone for the day with an early 2-0 lead.

    •    The Dirtbags tied it up with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and second innings but Jayden Lopez answered back with an RBI double in the top of the third inning to bring the Highlanders back up with a 3-2 advantage.

    •    Dirtbag pitchers struggled in the fourth inning, walking in a pair of runs after UC Riverside loaded the bases. Sean Blandino was then hit with a pitch to send in a third run.

    •    The Dirtbags scored a single run in the bottom of the fourth on an error.

    •    Cole Koniarsky roped an RBI double and Rocha had an RBI single in the fifth to extend the Highlanders' lead to 8-3.
