Track and Field Finishes Regular Season at UCI, Arizona

IRVINE, Calif. - UC Riverside set more top marks in its final weekend of the regular season, competing at the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine and the Desert Heat Classic at Arizona.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • UCR's distance corps kicked off the festivities in Irvine with the steeplechase, seeing a Big West qualifier from Mia Ashby (11:05.63) and a USATF U20 qualifier from Makayla Anderson (11:08.88).  
  • Baptise Gardenas (9:55.79) also made his steeplechase debut at UCI.  
  • Joy Weber took third in the women's open 5k with a PR and her first sub-18 time of 17:57.70.  
  • Isatu N'Diaye came close to the Big West mark in the 800 but still picked up a PR with her 2:14:51.  
  • Reggie Day ran a solid 47.94 in the 400m to grab fourth in his heat. Liam Carr also took fourth in his race, posting a 47.96. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

  • UCR's 4x100 relay team broke the school record for the third time in as many weeks, taking third in their heat and 11th overall with a 45.52.  

UP NEXT 

  • UC Riverside now turns its focus to the Big West Championship, taking place on separate weekends in San Luis Obispo with multis first followed by the championship.
