MARICOPA, Ariz – UC Riverside began its final tournament before the Big West Championship on Wednesday at AK-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club with the first 36 holes of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Mylan Hirata is UCR's leader after 36 holes at 73-72-145, currently tying for 15th. As a team, the Highlanders are ninth in the 21-team field.  
• Riley Shin returned to the lineup for her first spring tournament and shot a pair of rounds at 77 (+5).  
• Mitzi Duarte was 3-under on the back nine with birdies on 10, 13 and 15 and shot a 71 (-1) after opening the day with a 78 (+6) in round one. 
• Janna Andaya shot even par in round two and was 3-under through her first 12 holes of round two.  
• Gabrielle Kiger competed as an individual, shooting 78-80-158. 

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Hirata has now shot five rounds of 72 in her last eight after two such rounds in her previous 16.

• UC Riverside will finish play on Wednesday, April 4 with the remaining 18 holes from Maricopa.
