FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Four UC Riverside track and field student-athletes represented the Highlanders this week at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Fayetteville, Arkansas. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Raykiyat Olukoju ran her first career NCAA West Preliminary and finished 36th in the 200m at 23.34.  
• Ashraf Abdelmagid and Kyan Thomas both entered their races ranked 48th in the region. Abdelmagid finished 41st in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 9:22.87 while Thomas registered a 14.26m in the triple jump.  
• Norma Alvarez finished off UC Riverside's time in Fayetteville with an 11:22.92 in the 3000 steeplechase.  

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS 

• Olukoju's 200m time was the second fastest of her lifetime and fastest of her UCR career to date.  
• 2024 marked the Highlanders' second straight year with NCAA West Preliminary qualifiers.
