EUGENE, Ore. – UC Riverside cross country competed at the prestigious Dellinger Invitational on Friday morning at Pine Ridge Golf Club, taking on a nationally competitive field hosted by Oregon.

WOMEN'S XC
UC Riverside women's cross country placed ninth overall in the 6-kilometer race, totaling 242 points to finish ahead of San Diego State (263) and Central Washington (324). Host Oregon captured the team title with 16 points, followed by Air Force (72) and Oregon State (87).

The Highlanders were led by Joy Weber, who finished 44th overall in 21 minutes, 41 seconds. Isatu N'Diaye followed close behind in 47th at 21:45.1, while Nicole Alfred crossed 54th in 21:50.6. Ingrid Tamayo placed 62nd at 22:00.0, and Alexis Corvese rounded out the scoring five in 87th at 22:43.4.

Additional Highlander finishers included Anna Field (91st, 22:50.8), Meztli Velazquez (97th, 23:23.6), Victoria Valenzuela (98th, 23:28.5), and Zaida Velazquez (102nd, 24:05.8).

MEN'S XC
UC Riverside men's cross country finished eighth overall in the 8-kilometer race, totaling 249 points to place ahead of UC Irvine (267) and Central Washington (281). Oregon won the meet with 16 points, followed by Air Force (50) and Weber State (103).

The Highlanders were paced by freshman Eshaan Hussain, who led the team with a 47th-place finish in 24 minutes, 57 seconds. Fellow freshman Omar Fabila followed in 53rd at 25:05.4, while junior Baptiste Garderes finished 57th in 25:10.2. Sophomore Kai Marotta came in 71st at 25:46.4, and freshman Jordan Herrera rounded out the scoring in 76th at 25:53.4.

Additional Highlander finishers included Jarron Chua (85th, 26:35.4) and Caleb Pascua (87th, 30:09.4).

The Highlanders will return home to host the annual Highlander Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Ag Ops Course.
