HONOLULU, Hawai'i. – The Highlanders cross country teams wrapped up their conference season this morning at the Big West Championships at Kapi'olani Park, in Hawai'i.
WOMEN'S XC
UC Riverside women's cross country earned a seventh-place team finish with 175 points in the 6-kilometer race. Cal Poly claimed the conference title with 31 points, followed by UC Irvine (75) and UC San Diego (82).
Isatu N'Diaye led the Highlanders with an 18th-place finish in 21 minutes, 58 seconds. Ingrid Tamayo followed in 29th at 22:25.7, while Nicole Alfred placed 38th in 22:40.2. Joy Weber came in 43rd at 22:46.7, and Alexis Corvese rounded out the scoring five in 52nd at 23:03.1.
Anna Field (59th, 23:21.2) and Meztli Velazquez (76th, 24:20.1) also competed for UC Riverside.
MEN'S XC
UC Riverside men's cross country finished ninth overall with 247 points in the 8-kilometer race. Cal Poly captured the men's team championship with 27 points, followed by UC Davis (47) and Cal State Fullerton (98).
Baptiste Garderes paced the Highlanders with a 34th-place finish in 25 minutes, 41 seconds. Omar Fabila followed in 49th at 26:03.5, while Jordan Herrera crossed in 65th at 26:48.1. Jarron Chua placed 71st in 27:19.1, and Logan Harding rounded out the scoring five in 77th at 28:45.0.
The Highlanders now have their eyes on the NCAA West Regionals.
