RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside opened its 2025 season on Friday with the RCC Invitational at Riverside City College.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Deven Martin started things off for the Highlanders with a 42.40/139' 1" in the men's hammer throw for UCR's only result of the morning.  
• Sophie Moser-Smith (4:51.54) and Alexis Corvese (4:52.33) captured top 15 finishes in the women's 1500 run.  
• Taylor Oden recorded a 14.85 in the women's 100 hurdles for her first collegiate result in the event.  
• Andrew Garcia placed 10th in the men's 100 dash with an 11.14 and ninth in the men's 200 dash (22.67).  
• Kaley Cardenas placed sixth in the women's 800 run with a 2:20.51. Aidan Dominguez (1:56.93) placed 11th on the men's side of the event to lead UCR.  
• Avianna Carrillo (24.92) and Jessica Boyd (25.12) earned top six finishes in the women's 200 dash and were two of four Highlanders in the top 15 overall.  
• UCR's freshman-heavy men's 4x400 squad finished fifth with a 3:29.43.  

NOTABLES 

• Logan Buckman and Sascha Obadia made their UC Riverside debuts. 
• The Highlanders claimed three top 10 finishes in the women's 100 dash with Boyd (12.02) placing third. Carrillo (4th/12.04) and Nilah Okon (9th/12.29) followed behind.
