LAHAINA, Hawai'i – UC Riverside continued its strong showing at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, led by standout rounds from Sophia Luna and Mitzi Duarte on Tuesday at the Royal Kaanapali Course. The Highlanders posted a team total of 291 (+3) in round two, to move into eighth place overall at 582 (+6) through 36 holes amongst a field of 17 teams.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophia Luna was sharp, carding a 3-under 69, vaulting 12 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 12th. Her round included four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 18th.
- Mitzi Duarte fired a 2-under 70 with five birdies, moving seven spots up to the 17th position.
- Maleyna Gregorio recorded a 74 (+2), providing solid support to the Highlanders.
- Janna Andaya posted a 77 (+5) after bouncing back from a difficult front nine.
- Sofia Vargas shot a 78 (+6) placing her tied for 78th.
