RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside completed day one of the Ben Brown Invitational and Beach Opener with season bests and strong performances.  

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Deven Martin started off the Beach Opener with a 42.69m/140-0.00 in the hammer throw.  
• Ningning O'Brien made her collegiate debut on the women's side of the event, competing unattached and registering a 46.71m/153-03.00. 
• Juliana Base took second in the javelin at the Beach Opener with a 42.85m/140-07.00. 
• UCR shined in the 1500 on both the men's and women's sides in Fullerton.  
• Tyler Kaan placed third in the men's 1500 run at the Ben Brown with a 3:50.10, and Andrew Parkinson (8th/3:59.48) rounded out UCR's top 10 presence on the men's side.  
• Isatu N'Diaye turned in a top 10 1500 finish of her own on the women's side with a 4:32.92. Morgan Nygren made it four overall top 10 finishes for the Highlanders in the 1500 with a 4:38.39 for ninth.  
• Andrew Castellon clocked in at 14:18.81 in the men's 5000 while Joy Weber recorded a 17:25.43 on the women's side.  
• Lance Denhalter placed fourth in the men's 800 with a 1:53.77. Kylie Nasca capped off the day with a 2:16.23 in the women's 800 and N'Diaye clocked in with a 2:13.42. 

NOTABLES 

• N'Diaye reset two season bests for UCR while Nygren bested the Highlanders' season best in the 1500.  
• Denhalter set a new team season best in the men's 800 with his 1:53.77 while Kylie Nasca improved her outdoor 800 mark for the season in Fullerton.
