RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside Track & Field's trio of Raykiyat Olukoju, Chelsea Aninyei, and Kyan Thomas was selected to participate in the NCAA Division I Track & Field West Preliminaries in College Station, Texas, from May 28-31.
UCR has now sent 15 entries to the first round since 2021.
RAYKIYAT OLUKOJU - 200M
Olukoju makes her second straight trip to the NCAA West Preliminaries after running the 200m last year in Arkansas. She won the 200m at the Vince O'Boyle Invite in March before placing fifth at the Steve Scott Invite in her return to UC Irvine. The junior capped off another impressive Highlander campaign at the Big West Championship last weekend, medaling in the event for the third year running. Her 23.30 at conference tied a lifetime best and ranks 35th in the Division I West Region.
CHELSEA ANINYEI - TRIPLE JUMP
Aninyei makes her first trip to the NCAA West Preliminaries after recording at least a runner-up finish in the triple jump in five outdoor meets this season. The April 29 Big West Women's Field Athlete of the Week collected triple jump victories at the UC Riverside Spring Classic (12.85m / 42' 2"), Vince O'Boyle Classic (12.49m/ 40-11.75), and Steve Scott Invitational (12.80m/42' 0"), and finished second at the Mt. SAC Relays (12.74m/41-09.75). Her win at the UCR Spring Classic is also a lifetime best that ranks 31st in the Division I West Region.
KYAN THOMAS - TRIPLE JUMP
Thomas makes his second straight trip to the NCAA West Preliminaries after competing in the triple jump last year in Arkansas. Like Aninyei, he also owns three triple jump wins in 2025 - all in his first five meets - additionally medaling at the Big West Championship and Mt. SAC Relays. His podium finish at this past weekend's Big West Championship is a personal best that ranks 35th in the Division I West Region (15.45m/50-08.25).
