FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Highlanders opened the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Monday with a steady start, highlighted by Mitzi Duarte and Janna Andaya each carding 1-over 73s at Ptarmigan Golf and Country Club.

Duarte and Andaya paced the Highlanders in round one, keeping the team in the mix on a challenging layout. They were backed by Maleyna Gregorio with a 74 and Ivy Kim at 75, while freshman Lauren Lee added an 83 to round out the scoring.

UC Riverside posted a team total of 295 in the first round before play was suspended in round two with the Highlanders still having about four holes to finish.

The Highlanders will return Wednesday morning to complete the second round before going straight into the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament.
