DAVIS, Calif. — Marqui Worthy Jr. scored 18 points and Andrew Henderson added 16 as the Highlanders put together a strong second half, but UC Davis held on for a 74-66 win.

Worthy Jr. went 7 of 14 from the field, knocked down two 3-pointers and battled for eight rebounds to lead the Highlanders in scoring and on the glass. BJ Kolly delivered a physical interior performance with nine rebounds to go with 10 points. Henderson provided a boost off the bench with 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers, while Ben Waller chipped in eight points. Osiris Grady added seven points with two assists.

UC Riverside trailed 36-25 at halftime after struggling from the free-throw line in the opening 20 minutes, but the Highlanders came out of the break with renewed pace and efficiency, scoring 41 points in the second half. UC Riverside trimmed the deficit to six at 52-45 on Worthy's three-point play at the 10:23 mark, and the Highlanders continued to apply pressure as Henderson and Worthy combined for timely baskets to keep the margin within reach down the stretch.

UC Riverside finished with 10 offensive rebounds and 13 second-chance points, and the Highlanders also scored 23 points off turnovers as they made a push in the second half to make it a game late.

The Highlanders return to the SRC Arena Thursday, January 29th as they host Long Beach State for a 7pm tip-off.
