LA JOLLA, Calif. — The Highlanders put together a strong late push at LionTree Arena, but the Highlanders came up short in a 72-66 decision against UC San Diego.

Andrew Henderson powered UC Riverside with 21 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. BJ Kolly delivered another impactful all-around performance with 15 points and a team-high 12 rebounds, while also posting four blocks to anchor the Highlanders defensively in the paint.

Marqui Worthy Jr. added 15 points, six assists and seven rebounds while playing all 40 minutes, helping steady the offense throughout the night. Osiris Grady chipped in seven points and eight rebounds, and the Highlanders got a lift off the bench from Ben Waller, who hit a key 3-pointer in his seven minutes.

UC Riverside kept it within reach by controlling the glass, finishing with 37 rebounds and creating second-chance opportunities. The Highlanders also stayed aggressive in transition, scoring 12 fast-break points, and closed the game with multiple defensive stops to give themselves a chance down the stretch.

The Highlanders return to the SRC Arena on Thursday, February 19th for their Blue Out Night as they face Cal State Bakersfield for a 7pm tipoff.
