RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The Highlanders turned in one of its sharpest offensive performances, rolling past Cal St. Bakersfield, 93-65, after building a 20-point halftime lead and never looking back.
Andrew Henderson led the way with 26 points, hitting four 3-pointers and adding seven rebounds. Marqui Worthy Jr. followed with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Ben Waller provided a major spark off the bench with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
BJ Kolly impacted the game in multiple ways, finishing with 10 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks while going a perfect 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. Osiris Grady added eight points, and the Highlanders got additional scoring punches from Tyler Jones (six points on 2-for-2 shooting, 2-for-2 from three), De'Undrae Perteete Jr. (six points, five assists) and Dylan Godfrey (three points in two minutes).
UC Riverside set the tone early, shooting 58.3 percent from three in the first half (7 of 12) and carrying a 43-23 edge into the break. The Highlanders stayed aggressive in the second half, finishing 12 of 20 from deep (60.0 percent) and 19 of 22 at the line (86.4 percent) to keep the lead growing.
The Highlanders also controlled the glass with a 46-36 rebounding advantage and finished with 18 assists, consistently generating quality looks throughout the night. Defensively, UC Riverside forced 13 turnovers and came up with 10 steals to fuel extra possessions.
The Highlanders take on UC Davis for a 2 p.m. tip off in the SRC Arena this Saturday, February 21st.
