FULLERTON, Calif. - UC Riverside hit the road for for the first of three at Cal State Fullerton. The Highlanders looked to get on track after dropping their series to Cal Poly last weekend. The Titans' offense was too much for the Highlanders to overcome as UCR lost 9-1 at Goodwin Field.
Joshua Torres got the start tonight and took the loss after pitching 4.2 innings before giving way to the bullpen. The pen pitched well this evening not giving up a run and gave up just two hits.Â
The Titans got on the board in the bottom of the first on a home run by Paul Contreras. However, they did the most damage in the home half of the third when they pushed five runs across giving them a 6-0 lead. The big blow came off the bat of Ty Thomas when he hit a three run homer with one out.Â
The only Highlander run came in the fourth when
Lucas Bonham scored on an error by Titans' starter Mikiah Negrete. UC Riverside didn't threaten another run after the fourth.
The Highlanders and Titans play game two tomorrow night at 6PM.
