#19 Cal Poly 1, UC Riverside 0 - Box Score
San Luis Obispo, CA—Cal Poly's Heidi Spink's one timer of a loose ball into the left corner of the net in the 89th minute gave the Cal Poly Mustangs a 1-0 win over the visiting UC Riverside Highlanders in San Luis Obispo Friday.
The No. 19 ranked Mustangs moved to 12-1-0 and 3-0 in the Big West, while UCR fell to 7-4-2, 1-1.
The goal was the only mistake by freshman goalkeeper Tawny Poggio, who recorded nine saves while facing 26 shots. The Highlanders had seven shots, but made them count, putting six on the frame. Goalkeeper Liz Hill was up to the task however, saving all six attempts to record the shutout.
The Highlanders head to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Oct. 12, and return home on Friday, Oct. 17, to host Cal State Northridge at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
