Irvine, CA—The Big West Conference announced today that UC Riverside senior forward Tessa Lennala (Temecula, CA) was named the Big West Women's Soccer Player Of The Week for games played from October 20-26.
The Highlanders only had one match during that seven-day span, but Lennala made the most of it scoring two goals and assisting on a third in UCR's 3-2 road win over Cal State Fullerton. Those were the eighth and ninth goals of the season for Lennala, who leads the conference in points and is tied for first in goals.
Her five points and two goals on the night both tied UC Riverside team marks, and she now has a hand (foot?) in each of the Highlanders last seven scores with five goals and two assists.
Lennala was the 2007 Big West Offensive Player Of The Year after scoring a conference-best eight goals a year ago. She now has 23 on her career, the second most in the history of the Highlanders program, and her nine scores on the season are also the second highest total in team history.
