Highlanders Men's Soccer Drops Match To #4 Creighton, 2-0

The UC Riverside Men's Soccer team, playing its fourth consecutive ranked opponent to open the season, dropped a 2-0 decision to Creighton Sunday evening.
The Jays got the better of the offensive play for most of the day outshooting the Highlanders 19-4 in the match including 11-1 in the first half. Creighton's first goal came on an exchange following a rebound off of UCR keeper Ryan Schmitz with 22:20 gone in the first.
History repeated itself in the second half when the Jays scored again on a rebound off of a Schmitz save with 12:36 gone in the second half.
Doug Thrasher and David Lozano were named to the Diadora Challenge All-Tournament Team for their play over the weekend.
UCR travels to Las Vegas this weekend to take part in the UNLV Nike Invitational where they will play Oral Roberts (Friday, Sept. 12, 4:30 pm PT) and Gonzaga (Sunday, Sept. 14, 10:30 am).
