Men's Basketball Eyes 6th Straight Win As They Travel To Northern Arizona
12/9/2009 3:51:59 PM | Men's Basketball
UC Riverside at Norhern Arizona Game Notes
As a winter storm blankets the country, the Highlanders defense is doing much the same as they rank 49th in the nation in opposition field goal percentage (38.5%) and 82nd in scoring defense (63.0) heading into their Sunday, December 13 meeting at Northern Arizona. Tip is scheduled for 3:05 pm PT and fans can listen to all the action as The Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, brings the call to gohighlanders.com.
Over UCR’s past five games, those defensive figures are even more impressive as the Highlanders have held the opposition to an average of 59.4 points and 34.4 percent shooting from the field.
UCR is currently on a five-game winning streak following its 58-55 win over San Diego which saw the team erase a 19-point second half deficit. It was the largest deficit ever overcome by UC Riverside in the Division I era.
UCR is 3-2 all time against the Lumberjacks and won their meeting a year ago at the Student Recreation Center, 58-52.
Northern Arizona is 2-5 on the year, and has dropped three straight games heading into Sunday’s game. Cameron Jones leads three Lumberjacks with double-digit scoring averages at 15.9 points per game.
