Men's Soccer Looks To Avenge Earlier 2-1 Loss To Cal State Fullerton

Riverside—The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team travels to Cal State Fullerton Wednesday for a 7 pm match with the Titans, looking to avenge a 2-1 home loss on October 9 of this year. The Highlanders are coming off of their highest scoring conference match in more than five years as they peppered the UC Santa Barbara defense for three goals on Sunday evening. The seven combined goals in the match were the most in a Big West contest since UC Irvine topped Cal State Fullerton by a 4-3 decision on November 2, 2005. The last time a Big West match featured more than seven goals was on October 17, 2004 when UC Riverside upended Cal Poly, 5-4.
In the most recent meeting between the Highlanders and Titans, Tyler Wilson's header in the sixth minute provided UCR with its lone goal and tied the score at one apiece. Cal State Fullerton scored the game winner with 3:12 remaining in the first period, as the 2-1 advantage held up the rest of the way through a scoreless second half.
Fullerton's win over UC Riverside was the first in a three-match winning streak for the Titans: they topped Cal State Northridge on the road by a 3-1 score and beat Hope International 1-0 at Titan Stadium.
