Tigers Defeat UC Riverside Volleyball 3-0

Stockton, CA - The UC Riverside volleyball team continued Big West Conference play on Friday evening with a 3-0 loss at Pacific at the Alex G. Spanos Center by the scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-18.
Still searching for their first league win of the 2010 season, the Highlanders (2-20, 0-8) fell behind early in the first set and never recovered as the Tigers (13-8, 5-4) won easily 25-11.
UCR led 3-1 early in the second set, but Pacific scored four straight to take the lead 5-3. The Highlanders tied the set at 6-6, but could never retake the lead as the Tigers went on for the 25-15 victory.
Both teams traded points through the first 10 points in the third set before Pacific starting puling away midway through. Leading 15-14, the Tigers outscored the Highlanders 10-3 to close out the match as they won 25-18.
Amanda Vilapando (pictured) led UCR with seven kills while Megan Patterson added 15 digs and Katie Meyers had 15 assists.
Svenja Engelhardt had a game-high 13 kills for the Tigers.
The Highlanders continue league play on Saturday, Oct. 23 with a 7:00 pm contest at UC Davis in Davis, CA.
