Riverside—Following back-to-back road wins, the UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team still has its sights set on the fourth seed in the Big West Tournament, but the Highlanders need to win their final two matches and get some help in order to secure their first-ever conference postseason berth.
UC Davis is next up for UCR, as the Highlanders honor their five seniors—Nissa Hatifie, Normando Mariscal, Jeff Mowdy, Arnie Sanchez and Tyler Wilson—prior to the start of their Wednesday, November 3 match against the Aggies. Kick off is slated for 7 pm PT, and fans who are unable to attend the match may follow it online or via their mobile devices via LiveStats.
UC Riverside enters the UC Davis match having won two of its past three contests with the lone loss being a 2-1 defeat to seventh-ranked UC Irvine in which the Highlanders played a man down for the final 62 minutes.
The team's most recent win over Cal State Northridge improved UCR's record to 5-10-1 overall and 2-6-0 in conference. The last time the Highlanders won more than five matches in a season was back in 2005 when they went 7-10-1 on the year and finished in third place in the Big West.
The Aggies enter Wednesday's match at 6-11-0 including a 4-5-0 record in conference. They snapped a three-match losing streak on Saturday with a 4-2 win over Cal Poly.
UC Davis won the first meeting between the teams this season taking a 1-0 overtime decision back on October 13 as Nathan Javadi scored the game-winner with 6:05 gone in the bonus stanza.
