UC Riverside vs. CSU Bakersfield Game Notes
The UC Riverside Men’s Basketball Team will try and escape the 53 degree weather and pouring rain currently battering the Inland Empire this week as they travel to Bakersfield, CA to take on the CSUB Roadrunners. The weather in Bakersfield is ... 57 degrees and pouring rain. Fans who are unable to brave the elements can listen to the Voice of the Highlanders, John Ramey, bring the call live from courtside to gohighlanders.com and to KPRO 1570 AM.
The Highlanders are coming off an 11-point win over Montana State which ran the team’s home record to a perfect 3-0. The road has been less kind to UCR as they have just one win in seven tries away from the friendly confines of the SRC. That victory came on December 20 at SMU.
CSU Bakersfield is coming off of a 70-69 win over Big West opponent Cal State Northridge and has wins in four of its last five games. The Roadrunners also have wins this year against San Jose State and Portland State—two teams that beat the Highlanders earlier in the season.
UC Riverside has won each of the last two meetings against CSUB including a decisive 87-47 win on December 2, 2009. Two seasons ago, the Highlanders traveled to Rabobank Arena and beat the Roadrunners 64-63 thanks to a pair of Rudy Meo free throws with five seconds left on the clock.
Stephen Carter leads CSUB in scoring this season averaging 18.2 points per game while hitting 51.2 percent of his field goal attempts and 47.6 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
This is the final non-conference game for UC Riverside prior to the start of conference play on December 28 at UC Irvine.
