The Highlanders (0-2-0) took 12 shots, five of them on goal, but none could find the back of the net.
Seattle (1-2-0) only had two shots on goal, but Anderson's game-winner at the 60:12 mark slipped past UCR keeper Jessica White for the lone score of the game.
"We had great scoring opportunities and just couldn't put them away," Head Coach Veronica O'Brien explained. "We have to make teams earn goals against us. We didn't step well on that and we got caught on stepping too late, and unfortunately that was the game."
Deborah Musa (pictured) led UCR with four shots while Vanessa Ybarra and Andrea Morales each added two. Seattle's Kara Kuttler had a game-high five shots.
The Highlanders hit the road for the next four matches starting with a Texas two-step as the team travels to Texas State and Texas on Sept. 3 and 5 respectively.
