Men's Soccer Travels To Los Angeles To Face No. 17 UCLA Bruins

Los Angeles—With eight goals in its first three matches, the UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team (1-2-0) is already well on its way to bettering last season's offensive output, but next up on the docket is a road match against the seventeenth ranked team in the nation, the UCLA Bruins (1-1-0). Thursday's match kicks off at 7 pm PT, and fans can follow the match on GameTracker or listen live over the internet.
Arnie Sanchez (pictured) leads the Highlanders with three assists on the year along with one goal, and Joel Garcia has two goals and an assist to pace a balanced UCR attack. The last time the Highlanders had a player record more than three assists in a season was back in 2006 when Andrew Villalobos was credited with five.
The Bruins are coming off a 1-1 performance at the adidas / IU Credit Union Classic where they beat Notre Dame, 1-0, but fell to the host Hoosiers, 5-1.
UC Riverside and UCLA have met on two prior occasions with the Bruins winning both contests. Highlanders Head Coach Junior Gonzalez played at UCLA and was a member of the Bruins 1997 National Championship team.

The Highlanders scored 22 goals during the 2008 season but managed just 12 a year ago. The team returns its top four point scorers from 2009, however, and already has 8 goals in 3 matches this season.

UC Riverside's Arnie Sanchez has 3 assists already on the season. The last time the Highlanders had a player record more than 3 assists in a single year was back in 2006 when Andrew Villalobos was credited with 5.
DOUBLE YOUR PLEASURE
Joel Garcia and Aaron Long each scored 2 goals in the Highlanders 5-0 win over Alabama A&M on September 4, tying the team record for individual goals in a match. It was the first time in the history of the program that two players had score multiple goals in a single match.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Transfer Nick Goldriech has been the Highlanders primary keeper this season, and his goals against average of 1.76 is on pace to be the fourth lowest in the history of the program.
