GAME NOTES
STREAK REMOVERS
UCR upset Long Beach State by the score of 3-2 on October 1, snapping a 15-match skid against the 49ers in the process. The last time the Highlanders defeated the Beach was back on September 19, 2003, and at the time, LBSU was ranked 23rd in the country.
Four games later, the Highlanders rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to win the final three sets and defeat UC Santa Barbara 3-2 on October 15. The win snapped a 29-match skid against the Gauchos and marked the first win over UCSB in the program's Division I history.

MEAT IN THE SEATS
The UCR volleyball team is averaging 331 fans per game through six home contests in 2011. If they can keep that up with four remaining home matches, it would be the highest average since the 2001 season in which they averaged 359 fans.
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER
UC Riverside has won five matches so far in 2011 which is three more wins than the 2010 team recorded in the entire season.
RECORD WITHIN REACH
With two Big West victories so far in 2011, UCR needs just two more to tie the school record. The 2003 and 2005 squads hold the Highlanders record with four league wins.
KILLER INSTINCTS
UCR's Amanda Vialpando is averaging 3.90 kills per set. If she keeps that up, it would be the highest kills per set average for a member of the Highlanders since Jamie DeKiewiet averaged 4.93 in 2005. Vialpando is also ranked 63rd in the country in that category.
KILLER DUO
UCR's Vialpando and Shelby LeDuff are averaging 3.90 and 3.15 kills per set respectively. If they keep it up, it would be the first time since the 2004 season that two Highlanders players averaged at least 3.0 kills per set.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UC Riverside junior Amanda Vialpando was named the Big West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on September 19 after leading the Highlanders to a 2-1 weekend at the Hilton Stockton Invitational. Vialpando is the first Highlanders player to earn this distinction since Angie Mitchell picked up the weekly award on October 8, 2007.
BACK-TO-BACK
The Highlanders defeated Loyola Marymount and CSU Bakersfield in back-to-back matches on September 16, marking the first time UCR recorded consecutive wins since November 6 and 7, 2009. It was also the first time UC Riverside swept consecutive matches since August 30, 2008.
