Women's Soccer Hosts Miss. St., UC Irvine, San Jose St. This Weekend

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team returns home this weekend to host the UC Riverside Women's Soccer Invitational. San Jose State and UC Irvine square off in the first match of the invitiational on Friday, August 26 at 4 pm PT. The Highlanders then host Mississippi State in the nightcap beginning at 7 pm. Sunday sees the Anteaters and Bulldogs meet at 10 am, while the Highlanders and Spartans close out the invitational at 1 pm. Fans who are unable to make the trip may follow all four matches on their computers and mobile devices via LiveStats.
The Highlanders are coming off of a 0-1-1 weekend at the UNLV Rebel Classic in which they dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Rebels, but bounced back with a 1-1 double overtime tie with Idaho. Kayde Hensley picked up the first goal of her career in the match against the Vandals.
UCR and Mississippi State have never faced off against one another, but the Highlanders and Spartand have tangled on six previous occasions with UCR owning a 4-2-0 record in the series.
GAME NOTES
THE THINEST OF MARGINS I
The final margin in 33 of the Highlanders last 40 matches has been one goal or less including 13 of 18 in 2010.
WHITE OUT
Highlanders goalkeeper Jessica White recorded 11 saves in the Highlanders' 1-0, season-opening loss to UNLV a year ago. Two weeks later, she was credited with 12 saves in the Highlanders 1-0 loss at Texas. She led the Big West Conference with 104 on the season which are the fifth most in the history of the program.
In 2009, White finished the year with a goals against average of 0.80 (49th lowest in the nation) and a save percentage of .875 (10th best in the country). From August 28 through September 13, she ran off a 454 minute and 55 second scoreless streak spanning six matches.
Her 7 shutouts on the season were tied for the second most in Highlanders history.
AND A FRESHMAN SHALL LEAD THEM
Freshman Melisa Escamilla was the Highlanders leading goal and point scorer in 2010 becoming just the third freshman to lead UCR in those categories.The other two are Jessica Armel (4 goals, 1 assist) in 2002 and Renee Scachetti (7 goals, 4 assists) in 2003.

Kayde Hensley scored the first goal of her collegiate career in a 1-1 double OT tie vs. Idaho on August 21.
