Cal State Fullerton Ekes Out 1-0 Win Over UC Riverside Women's Soccer

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team traveled to Cal State Fullerton Sunday in search of its first Big West Conference victory of the season, but the Titans picked up a goal in the 17th minute of play and held on for a 1-0 win (Box Score).

Jessica White was back in goal for the Highlanders (5-9-2, 0-5-0) after missing two matches with a leg injury, and she recorded seven saves on the day in her return. But with 16:31 gone in the match, Jennifer Smith found Stacey Fox with a looping through ball, and Fox chipped it over White's head for her fifth goal of the season and a 1-0 Titans lead.

That score was all Cal State Fullerton (7-7-0, 4-1-0) needed to secure its fourth straight win and move into a two-way tie with Long Beach State for third place in the Big West standings.

UC Riverside returns home this weekend for its final two home matches of the regular season: Friday, October 19 vs Cal Poly at 7 pm PT and Sunday, October 21 vs. UC Santa Barbara at 1 pm.
