Box Score
Stockton, CA—The UC Riverside Baseball Team bounced back from Saturday's 11-2 loss at Pacific to take Sunday's rubber match from the Tigers, 12-1.
The Highlanders (19-27, 7-11) wasted no time in jumping on Pacific starter Kyle Crawford (2-7) as they sent seven batters to the plate in the top of the first scoring three runs on singles by Vince Gonzalez and Kevin Davidson and a sac fly off the bat of David Andriese.
UC Riverside tacked on another run in the top of the third thanks to some defensive miscues by the Tigers (12-37, 2-16). After Clayton Prestridge singled to left with one out, he advanced to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Andriese got plunked putting runners at first and second, and Prestridge came home on the next play thanks to a double steal and a throwing error by Pacific catcher Dallas Cornea.
Nick Vilter gave UCR a 5-0 advantage when he led off the top of the fourth with a home run to left.
Highlanders' starter Dylan Stuart (6-6) allowed just two hits through the first three innings, but Brett Christopher got a hold of an 0-2 offering in the bottom of the fourth to make it 5-1 UC Riverside.
Kevin Davidson got that run back in the top of the fifth driving home Prestridge with a single to center, and Andriese cleared the bases with a two-run shot to right for the Highlanders seventh and eighth runs of the game.
Stuart allowed just two hits over the next three innings, and in the top of the seventh, Eddie Young and Phil Holinsworth each drove in a pair of runs.
Zach Varela and Kevin Sprague each threw scoreless innings to close out the victory for the Highlanders.
