Lefebvre, Crain, And Ito Combine For 51 In 80-62 Win Over Loyola Marymount

Box Score Riverside, CA—Clemence Lefebvre, Brittany Crain, and Annelise Ito combined to score 51 points in an 80-62 win over visiting Loyola Marymount. The win over the Lions (2-5) got the Highlanders to 4-3 on the year and was their second in a row.

Lefebvre had a season-high 12 points in her last game, and established a new one Tuesday with 20 points on 8-13 shooting from the field and 2-4 from three-point land.

Crain also recorded a new season-high with 9 assists, just one shy from registering her second straight double-double.

Three Highlanders joined Levebvre in double figures, Crain 16, Ito 15, and Michelle Curry had a season-high 12 points in the victory.

In the first quarter UCR jumped out to a 7-0 lead, holding the Lions scoreless for the first three and a half minutes of the quarter. The Highlanders held the Lions to 22.2 % shooting from the field and forced eight opening period turnovers.

They also continued their hot shooting from distance as they went 4-7 from three point land. LMU scored half of their 10 points from the free throw line, shooting 5-8. UCR led 22-10 at the end of the first.

Lefebvre had 8 points on 3-5 shooting, including 2-3 from deep.

The second was played closely, but the Highlanders continued to pressure LMU into turnovers, as they committed seven in the period. UCR got 14 of their 16 second quarter points from Ito and Verin, who each scored seven.

At the half UCR led 38-24 behind 10 Lefebrve points, and 9 apeice from Ito and Verin.

Leslie Wood-Lopez went 2-3 from three point range and scored 10 first half points to lead the Lions.

The third quarter was the most competitive of the game as the Lions began pressuring UCR in the half court on defense and cut the lead to 7 at 50-43. Crain then knocked down a three to push the lead back to 10 and the third finished 53-43.

LMU's Bree Alford had 10 of her team-high 15 points in the quarter.

Mid-way through the fourth with the score 59-47, the Highlanders would outscore the Lions 14-8 to get the lead to 21 with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

LMU was unable to close the distance, and the Highlanders never looked back as they went on to win 80-62.

Alford led the Lions with 15 points and 10 rebounds for her double-double on the year.

The Highlanders play next at San Francisco, on Friday, December 4, in a 6pm tip-off.
