RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside men's soccer head coach Tim Cupello announced the Highlanders' 17-match schedule for 2022 on Wednesday. Click here for the full schedule.
UCR's fall slate will feature a handful of first-time opponents for the program and a second consecutive early-season cross-country road trip, this time to Florida. Overall, UC Riverside will play seven matches at the UC Riverside Soccer Stadium this fall: four in conference and three out of conference.
UCR welcomes Cal, Cal State LA and Concordia Irvine on August 12, 15 and 19, respectively, for a trio of scrimmages before heading out to Orem, Utah for the season opener with Utah Valley on August 25. The Highlanders will return to the Inland Empire on August 28 for the home opener with recently-new Division I member St. Thomas, who is in its second year as a member of the Summit League after playing at the Division III level.
After an impressive 2-0-0 season-opening road trip to western New York last season that saw UCR crack the United Soccer Coaches Far West Rankings, the Highlanders are headed back to the east coast for a pair of games in Florida against Jacksonville and Central Florida. UC Riverside will bring a third Sunshine State foe back home with them in Stetson, hosting the Hatters on September 9.
Return matches against San Diego and Loyola Marymount will precede the Crosstown Showdown at California Baptist on September 22 before Big West action commences with a trip to CSUN on September 28.
UCR will host four of its nine Big West contests in 2022, including a rematch of last year's Big West Semifinal against UC Irvine and Senior Night against UC Santa Barbara, rounding out the fall slate with three of its final five matches at home.
Admission is free for all eight home matches and three scrimmages in the 2022 season.
