RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside celebrated Senior Night on Thursday at the UC Riverside Soccer Stadium, falling 3-1 to Long Beach State.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Long Beach State grabbed two goals 15 minutes apart, going up 2-0 after 30 minutes of play.
Lexie Yela went for the near post in the 17th minute but was denied. The Highlanders' only other shot of the first half was a long-range attempt from Daphane Mendez that missed the left post.
Yela again grabbed an attempt in the 51st minute down the right side, missing the far post this time. The LMU transfer once more beat a defender on the right sideline before seeing her centering pass intercepted.
Cassia Souza made a relatively easy save in the 56th minute, but not before Emma Gonzalez executed a slide tackle to perfection for the defensive stop.
Charisma Benitez had a golden opportunity in the 61st minute, connecting on a header in the box but pushing it wide. UC Riverside pulled Long Beach's keeper out of her box in the 64th minute for another perfect chance at goal. The Beach made it 3-0 from the spot in the 69th minute.
Braelynn Llamoca erased the clean sheet in the 76th with her third goal of the season from the penalty spot. Marieke ten Brink hit the crossbar in the 84th minute before UCR's back line came up big again a few minutes later.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

UCR created the majority of its chances through Lexie Yela on the right side. Yela recorded just the two shots on the night while making her third start of the season, but all the while was still a cog in the Beach's back line for all 90 minutes.
Llamoca now has registered all three of her goals this season from the penalty spot.
