
Women’s Soccer Battles But Falls to Lancers, 1-0, in Crosstown Showdown Match

RIVERSIDE, Calif., - University of California, Riverside (UCR) traveled across town for the annual Crosstown Showdown at California Baptist (CBU), challenging the Lancers to a 90 minute battle at the CBU Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Highlanders came out aggressive and made the first attempt, with Mimi Dominguez setting the tone by drilling a shot at the Lancers' keeper in the first minute of play.
- The Lancers found the back of the net in the last five minutes of the first half, sending a high ball just over Allee Grashoff's fingertips to take the lead, 1-0.
- Highlander defense held back an onslaught of shots from the Lancers in the second half while sending six shots at CBU's net, however UCR couldn't find the equalizer.
NOTABLES
- Mimi Dominguez led Highlander offense with five shots, with her first attempt being on target in the first minute of the game.
- Allee Grashoff recorded a season high nine saves in goal for UC Riverside, while tying a season high of 24 shots faced.
