Mohammadi's Second-Half Header Gives UCR 1-1 Tie With La Salle

UC Riverside 1, La Salle 1 (2OT) - Box Score
Riverside—Senior midfielder Sarah Mohammadi's (Upland, CA) header with just over 26 minutes remaining knotted the Highlanders match with La Salle, but neither team could score during regulations or the two overtime periods as the teams walked away from the pitch with a 1-1 tie.
The Highlanders (4-3-1) got the better of the play for most of the day, but it was the Explorers (3-2-1) who scored first as Traci DePasquale found the back of the net for LaSalle with 11:56 gone in the first period. UC Riverside outshot the Explorers 12-5 in the first, but was unable to score, heading into the locker room at halftime trailing 1-0.
UCR continued to push the pace in the second half outshooting La Salle 11-7 after the break, but it was Mohammadi's header that ricocheted off of an Explorer defender that finally evened things up. Both teams had scoring chances the remainder of the way, but the final horn blew at the end of 110 minutes of play with neither team taking advantage.
Next up for UC Riverside is a trip to San Diego State on Friday, September 19. Kick off is set for 4 pm PT.
