UCR Winless Streak Reaches Four With 3-0 Loss At No. 21 San Diego

San Diego, CA—UCR's women's soccer team made its second trip to San Diego in as many weeks Friday evening, this time to take on the 21st ranked San Diego Toreros.
The Highlanders defense was put to the test early and often as the Toreros outshot UCR 18-1 in the first half. Only one shot found the back of the net, however, when Christine Mock split two defenders with under three minutes to go in the first.
San Diego kept up the pressure in the second half, outshooting UCR 15-2 in the stanza, but the Highlanders continued to hang in the game, trailing by that same 1-0 score as the clock ticked towards 00:00.
The Toreros Jen Mello scored off a rebound with under five minutes to go, and as the Highlanders tried to force the issue with time running out, San Diego punched in an insurance goal with 1:52 left in the game for the final 3-0 margin.
UC Riverside next hosts UNLV on Sunday, September 28 at 6 pm at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
