Women's Soccer Falls In Double Overtime at UC Irvine

Irvine, CA - The UC Riverside women's soccer team traveled to UC Irvine on Sunday evening searching for their first Big West win of the season, but just 0:32 seconds into the second overtime period, UCI's Tanya Taylor scored the game-winner, giving the Anteaters the 2-1 victory over the Highlanders.
In the first period, the Anteaters took the first six shots of the match, but the Highlanders took the next two, and Denise Thomas (pictured) made the second one count. With 6:20 remaining in the first, the senior from San Bernardino, CA deposited a rebound of Kristy Adcock's blocked shot into the back of the net passed UC Irvine keeper Kala Gabler, giving UCR a 1-0 lead heading into half.
The Anteaters picked up the equalizer in the 62nd minute, however, when the Highlanders were called for a penalty in their own box. UCI's Judy Christopher scored on the ensuing penalty kick to tie the match at one.
Jessica White made six saves on the evening raising her conference leading total to 94.
Next up for the Highlanders is a Sunday, October 25 match against Long Beach State for UCR's final road match of the year. Kickoff is set or 2 pm PT.
