UC Davis Goal In First OT Gives Aggies 1-0 Men's Soccer Win Over UCR

Stockton, CA—UC Davis lined up for its eighth corner kick of the night with just under six minutes gone in the first overtime period, and Nathan Javadi headed Kevin Schulte's kick into the back of the net for a 1-0 Big West Conference win over UC Riverside Wednesday evening.

The loss drops the Highlanders to 3-8-1 overall and 0-4-0 in conference while the Aggies improve to 4-8-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the Big West.

UC Davis had the better of the play in the early going outshooting UC Riverside 7-4 in the first 45 minutes of play, but the Highlanders evened things up in the second period as each team managed four shots after the break.

The teams only combined for three shots on goal in regulation, however, and UC Riverside was headed to its fifth overtime match of the season.

Javadi's header was the first shot of the extra period, and sent the Highlanders to their four overtime loss of the year.

UC Riverside returns home for a Sunday, October 17 meeting with UC Santa Barbara. Kick off is slated for 6 pm at the UCR Soccer Stadium.
