El Paso, TX—The UC Riverside Highlanders shutout, 6-0, Stephen F. Austin at the University of Texas, El Paso Tournament. The win was the Highlanders' (5-3) fifth in a row and their fourth straight shutout.
The Highlanders opened the scoring in the second minute on a goal by Lisa Jensen but were held scoreless the rest of the first half.
The Highlanders blew the game open with five goals in the second half, as Renee Scachetti opened the scoring in the 49th minute. Jensen scored her second goal of the game in 62nd minute, starting a flood that saw the Highlanders tally three more goals in the next 14 minutes, two by Erin Fahres and one by Kelly Hurley.
The Highlanders allowed just six shots on the game. Kristin Cocks started in goal, playing 67 minutes and making one save. She was relieved by Katie Blank, who recorded two saves in the match. Lindsay Hellman had a pair of assists for the Highlanders.
