UC Riverside Women's Soccer Drops Season Opener 3-0 At UNLV

Las Vegas, NV—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team opened the 2011 season at the UNLV Rebel Classic Friday evening falling to the host Rebels by a score of 3-0. (Box Score)
Shots on the night were virtually even with the Rebels owning a 13-12 advantage, but three of the UNLV attempts found the back of the net. Jenna Howerton put the Rebels on the board in the 12th minute of play on a one-timer off of a Brittney Flores cross.
It was 1-0 heading into the half, but with 6:12 gone in the second period, Courtney Botelho took a Kristin Sankey pass at the top of the box and turned it into a 2-0 UNLV lead. Jenn Wolfe ended the scoring on an unassisted goal with just 28 seconds remaining in the match.
The Highlanders take on Iadho in the second game of the UNLV Rebel Classic on Sunday, August 21 10:30 am PT.
