Morales Sends Seniors Home Happy As First-Half Goal Gives Women's Soccer 1-0 Win Over UCSB

Riverside—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team celebrated Senior Day Sunday afternoon as they said goodbye to the six members of the Class of 2013, but it was junior Andrea Morales who sent the seniors home happy as her first-half goal was the lone score in the Highlanders 1-0 win over visiting UC Santa Barbara (Box Score).

UC Santa Barbara (5-11-2, 2-5-1) was whistled for a foul 35 yards off of their end line with less than two minutes gone in the match. Andrea Luttio lined up for the free kick for the Highlanders, and sent the ball into the Gauchos' box where Morales outjumped the defense and headed the ball past goal keeper MaKenna Henry to put UCR on top 1-0.

That was the only score the Highlanders (6-9-3, 1-5-1) needed as Jessica White recorded four saves on the afternoon to secure UC Riverside's first shutout of the season. It was also the Highlanders first conference win of the year and moved them past Pacific into eighth place in the Big West.

UCR's regular season comes to an end this weekend as they travel to Pacific on Friday, October 26 at 7 pm PT and UC Davis on Sunday, October 28 at 2 pm.
