10/12/2014 7:11:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Northridge—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team traveled to Northridge Sunday evening in hopes of knocking off the number one team in the Big West, but CSUN kept the Highlanders off the board and scored the lone goal of the match in the second half to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Play was even throughout the match with UCR (6-5-3, 1-2-1) holding a 16-14 edge in shots and the Matadors with the 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Neither team was able to score in the first period, but in the 51st minute Cynthia Sanchez collected a Brittanie Sakajian pass and netted her second goal of the season.
The Highlanders return home this week for a pair of conference matches—vs. UC Santa Barbara on Friday, October 17 at 6 pm PT and vs. Cal Poly on Sunday, October 19 at 1 pm.
