2012 Named to Big West All-Conference Team, his third consecutive all-conference honor (story)... Named to  Men's All-Far West Region's Second Team (story)... MLSsoccer.com named Diaz as the sixth best among top ten ranked central defenders in the 2013 MLS Draft, landing him a spot on the Chivas USA Team (story)... In the season Diaz scored three times on the year all off of penalty kicks, of which two were game winners. The first decisive score came in the season-opening victory over Marist (box score/recap), and the second was in the Highlanders October 17 win over UC Irvine (box score/recap/video highlights)... His two game winners tied him for fifth on the 2012 Big West Conference "Overall Statistics: Game-Winning Goals" list and tied him for third on the UC Riverside's Men's Soccer "Single-Season Records, Individual" list.
