Second-Half Goal Gives UC Irvine 1-0 Women's Soccer Win Over Highlanders

Riverside--UC Riverside hosted the 15th ranked team in the nation Sunday evening in UC Irvine keeping up with the Anteaters for much of the evening, but a second-half goal by CoCo Goodsen gave UCI the 1-0 victory.
The teams battled to a 0-0 tie through the first 45 minutes with the Anteaters outshooting the Highlanders 11-7. UC Irvine broke through in the 52nd minute of play off of a Nikki Forrest corner kick. Sarah Devine re-directed the ball in the box, and Goodsen scored to make it a 1-0 match.
The win improved the Anteaters record to 15-1-2 on the season including a perfect 7-0 in the Big West. Jessica White picked up nine saves on the evening raising her conference leading total to 94.
The Highlanders have two more road matches on their 2010 docket--an October 29 match at UC Davis at 2 pm PT, and an October 31 match at Pacific starting at 1 pm.
